The Quality Assurance Unit was established on April 1st 2003 to handle the administrative work involved in the quality system of the faculty. The Organizational structure of this unit includes the Management Representatives, Head of Unit, Record and Document Control Officer, Steering Committee, Quality Assurance Committee and Internal Auditors.

The Steering Committee, Quality Assurance Committee and Internal Auditors consist of academic and non-academic staff. They are responsible for the planning, development and ensuring that the Faculty's Quality and Management System is developed, implemented and maintained. The Steering Committee consists of the Dean, Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs), Management Representative Deputy Dean (Graduate Studies and Research), and Head of Departments.

The members of the Quality Assurance Committee were appointed by the Dean and is headed by the Management Representative. They include the Administrative Officer for Resource Management, Administrative Officer for Academic and Student Affairs and the Administrative Officer of the Quality Assurance Unit, Laboratory Managers and representative from each laboratory.

The Internal Auditors who were also appointed by the Dean comprise several academic staff from each department. This team will ascertain that the Quality Management System is implemented and practiced by staff in the faculty.


Quality Management System (QMS)
The Faculty's Quality Management System (QMS) is focused on undergraduate teaching services; and other related services to fulfill undergraduate students' requirement.

The QMS is described in a quality manual and various procedures are present to control and ensure quality  at each level of input, process and output according to MS ISO 9001:2000 requirements. With the QMS in place, the Faculty will be able to realize UPM Strategic Plan and the Faculty Action Plan to increase customer satisfaction and attainment of quality as a work culture.
