Faculty began its humble beginnings in 1976 when the Food Science and Technology Department was established under the Faculty of Agriculture. In the earlier stage of its establishment, only one undergraduate program was offered, which was Bachelor of Food Science and Technology. The establishment of the Food Science and Technology Department is in line with the country's need to fulfill the shortage of experts in science-based food field.
On Mac 1st, 1982, the Food Science and Technology Department was upgraded to a Faculty of Food Science and Technology with tow departments, Food Technology Department and Food Science Department. In 1986, the Biotechnology Department was established and incorporated into the Faculty with the offering of Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) program. This program has six modules; Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Food Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology and Management. Hence, the Faculty's name was changed to Faculty of Food Science and Biotechnology.

In 1996, the Bachelor Science (Food Studies) was offered by the Faculty with two options : Food Quality Management and Food Management. The Food Service Administration and Food Marketing options were offered in year 1997 and 2000, respectively.

On August 1st, 2004, the Faculty name again changed to Faculty of Food Science and Technology after the Biotechnology Department was upgraded to the Faculty of Biotechnology and Bio-molecular Science. In January 2005, the new department was established, known Management and Food Service Department.

 
 
POLICY OF QUALITY

The Faculty aspires towards excellence through the instillation of quality culture and continual improvement for the teaching and research in the fields of Food Science and Technology and Food Studies to fulfill the customer's expectation through quality management as required by MS ISO 9001:2000.

 
VISION

The vision of the Faculty is to achieve a sustainable excellence in teaching, research and professional services.

 
MISSION

The mission of the Faculty is to provide quality services in teaching, research and professional services in the fields of Food Science and Technology and Food Studies.
